Banana What? By Howie Morgasen

As I was looking for recipes for my Mini Clinics, I decided to make Banana Bread three ways.

Who doesn’t love bananas? The problem is bananas are a brilliant yellow when they are ripe…and then they quickly turn to a dark brown/black color when over-ripe.

But guess what? When they are the darkest and ugliest, this is the time they are the sweetest and best to use in baked items.

As I am sitting here writing this and “sifting” through my recipes, the song “Bananaphone” popped into my head. It first premiered in 1994 on a children’s album, “Bananaphone” by Raffi (a famous children’s singer).

My kids and I use to listen to this all the time singing, laughing, and dancing to it.

“Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring…. Bananaphone.”

Well… back to baking!

Banana bread plain… with nuts… with chocolate… anyway you like it.

Don’t throw away those totally over-ripe beauties (LOL). Put them in the fridge and save them to be turned into delicious bites of sweet bread.

“Banana phone, ring ring ring! (This song drives me bananas!) Banana phone, ring ring ring!”
