College Football Week 2 Wrap-Up By: Brody Sorbera

Utah Survives The Bear

I am worried about Utah. Will these injuries they have, especially Cam Rising, affect their chances at another Pac-12 Championship and their bid for a playoff appearance? They should've beaten this Baylor team with ease but only managed to score 6 points before Baylor had a meltdown in the game's final minutes, even with a failed last-second drive by Baylor to tie the game. The biggest concern can be summed up in two words: Pac-12 (technically, that's a number, but let's forget about that for now). Why Pac-12? Why did you choose to be stacked and so fun to watch in your final year? Had this happened five seasons ago, you guys would have survived. Anyway, back to Utah, they have to face UCLA, a red-hot Oregon State, USC, and Washington, and to finish it off, you have to face Primetime and the Miracle Buffs of Colorado. I'm sorry, but this team is not a Pac-12 champion unless they can get healthy.

Rebs Crash The Green Wave

Both teams were going into this game to prove themselves legit, which is a running theme for everybody. Ole Miss came away with it late despite the score. This game was a dogfight till the end. Tulane shouldn't be ashamed, as they have assembled a group that could give any Power Five teams a scare. Now Lane Kiffin is looking to take advantage of a weak SEC West with a weakened Alabama and LSU, but their defense needs work if they want to realize their goal to win their division and compete for their first SEC Championship since…1963!?

The Tyler Van Dyke Show

Now that Texas is officially back, the question is, "Is Miami Back?". Nobody had Miami beating a Top 25 team on their bingo card besides that one good year they had in 2016. Miami has always been that former powerhouse that has been a husk of its former self, and it is hard to take them seriously even after they have a big win because they manage to disappoint in the end, but my god, what a performance by that offense, especially Tyler Van Dyke, 21 out of 30 completions, 374 yards and 5 TD's. That just speaks for itself, as it was mostly an offensive game with both defenses looking suspect. However, Miami was missing three defensive starters. Now, Miami is not a contender this year. Still, the best-case scenario is a 10-win campaign and a New Year's Six bowl appearance that can boost recruiting because who doesn't want to live in Miami, Florida?

Washout For The Wolfpack

NC State fans sadly waited 7 hours in a rain delay for a brutal loss. If they had a better QB that didn't throw 3 INTs, they could've won, as the defense was playing solid and hanging on until the end. Notre Dame's Sam Hartman put up another impressive performance and the defense looked solid all game. It pains me to say this but Notre Dame looks like a threat. In the end, the star power isn't there like other top 10 teams have to be a contender, but they should be a 9 or 10-win team this season.

Wisconsin, More Like Midsconsin!

I swear, every year this happens, Wisconsin is overhyped for whatever reason, and they consistently underperform. Oh, but this is different this year. They said Luke Fickell is putting in a new system! And they still find ways to lose games. Washington State looked like the better team on both sides of the ball, and it showed. The Pac-12 has been insane so far in its final year, and it is arguably the best conference. Meanwhile, the SEC looks mortal, completely backward from what we've been told.
