D-Man’s Fantasy Draft Hot Takes By: Dan Schreiber

My name is Dan "D-Man" Schreiber, and I work for Empty The Bench Podcast Network. I've been playing Fantasy Football since 2012.ere's a funny story from my 2013 fantasy football season. I joined one of my group of friend's league. I was still in the rookie stage of fantasy football back then. I was not prepared for the draft. It wasn't an online draft. It was a live draft. When I picked Percy Harvin during the draft, all my friends were dying hysterically, and I didn't know why. My friends told me he was injured for half the season, and I couldn't believe it.

Ever since that happened, I've been more careful throughout the years about who I pick up during fantasy football drafts. I research more on players if they are holding out during contract disputes and injuries so I know who to not pick up during drafts. I have come a long way, getting better with Fantasy Football. From the 2012-2022 Seasons, I made it to 7 championship matchups with a 2-5 record. It can be challenging to win a championship in fantasy football leagues. At least it's nice I have two titles under my belt. All you can do is try your best.

It wouldn't have been possible how better I got over the years in fantasy football because of my best friend for 25 years and mentor in fantasy football. Shout to my friend Frankie Numbers, the best fantasy football player I have ever encountered, who has won so many fantasy football leagues that I lost count. I'm here to share my knowledge for your 2023 PPR fantasy football drafts.

PPR Top Five QB, RB, WR, & TE To Draft

QB RB WR TE

1. Patrick Mahomes Austin Ekeler Justin Jefferson Travis Kelce

2. Josh Allen Christian McCaffrey Ja'Marr Chase Mark Andrews

3. Jalen Hurts Bijan Robinson Tyreek Hill T.J. Hockenson

4. Justin Herbert Nick Chubb Stefon Diggs Darren Waller

5. Trevor Lawrence Travis Etienne Jr. Amon-Ra St. Brown George Kittle

QB: In the top five, I don't have Joe Burrow because, as a possibility, he would miss a few weeks during the season. Also, you never know if it could be longer than expected for him to return because a calf strain is a tricky injury that takes time to heal. I don't see Lamar Jackson in the top five because his performance during the season could be better.

RB: Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry are not in the top five because they are heading towards the end of their careers. Also, they could be doing better on the field during the season with their performance and are not in their prime anymore.

WR: Cooper Kupp, I don't have in the top five because the Ram's offense struggles. It will hurt his performance throughout the season. St. Brown should be in the top five because he will perform great and be the real deal. Just remember how great he did last season.

TE: You can't go wrong with these top five tight ends because they are great players.

Here's an example of my draft position order that I do in 14-round drafts. I recommend any of these draft position orders. Suppose any of your leagues have a different number of rounds in your draft. This will give you a better idea of organizing your draft position order for any number of rounds. In one of my leagues last season with choice number one. I won a championship last season.

Picking up a running back or wide receiver on your first pick would fit best as the most critical positions to pick up if you pick up a quarterback or a tight end on your first pick. Your running back or wide receiver core might get weaker throughout drafting the rest of your team.

You are in a 12-team league with the first overall pick. Draft Justin Jefferson because he's been red hot as a first-overall pick in many fantasy football drafts. Also, let's say you have a fourth overall pick. I recommend drafting Austin Ekeler or Christian McCaffrey. One of them will fall to you to draft.

I hope my fantasy football draft advice helps. I wish you good luck, everyone, in your upcoming fantasy football drafts.
