NFL News: Jared Goff Inks New Long-Term Deal With Detroit Lions By Grant Winsauer

NFL

On Monday, Tom Pelissaro reported that Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff agreed to a massive extension with the team. The deal is four years and worth $212 million, with $170 million guaranteed at signing.

Many people thought that after Jared Goff was traded there, he would fall off and become a middle-of-the-road quarterback, but the reality is quite the opposite. Not only did they lock up Goff long-term, but they also signed vital pieces around him before they got his extension done. The two big players before Goff were franchise left tackle Penei Sewell and offensive powerhouse wideout Amon Ra St. Brown.

Goff has been a standout player for Detroit. His past three years with the Lions have seen him pass for an impressive 12,258 yards, with 78 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. These numbers are a testament to his skill and consistency. In his entire career, he has passed for a staggering 30,429 yards, with 185 passing touchdowns and 82 interceptions, further solidifying his status as a top-tier quarterback.

The Lions have done a great job turning around their franchise during the past couple of years, and they should reach a Super Bowl soon. The only problem they face is trying to beat the teams that are always in the deep parts of the playoffs because that is when the season gets tricky for most teams.

The Lions will be an exciting team to watch this upcoming season, and Lions fans should be excited to see how this season plays out. With the amount of offensive positions they locked up long-term deals with this past offseason and the amount of defensive talent they already had and added to via the draft last month, it will be interesting to see how opposing teams try to stop their offense. Seeing how opposing offenses try to gameplan for their improved defense will be just as enjoyable.
