NFL News: L’Jarius Sneed Traded to the Titans by Grant Winsauer
According to NFL.com, the Tennessee Titans have traded for standout corner L’Jarius Sneed in exchange for a third-round pick and a seventh-round pick swap.
This move was expected because Sneed was unhappy that he had been given the franchise tag. What surprised me the most about this trade was the return the Kansas City Chiefs got for Sneed. Given how much Sneed contributed during the last few Super Bowl runs, it would at least net a second-round pick.
This trade is suitable for both parties because Kansas City has a lot of pieces they will need to pay next offseason, so they were going to have some cap casualties/trade casualties, and Sneed ended up being one of those people. This is good for the Titans because they have great pieces on their defense with Jeffery Simmons and Harold Landry but still need to include a great piece in their corner room. Sneed fills that void for the Tennessee Titans.
Ian Rapoport reported that Sneed signed a new four-year contract worth 76.4 million dollars after being traded to the Titans. This deal surprised me because he essentially signed the same deal as the corner Jaylon Johnson of the Chicago Bears. When I saw that Sneed was seeking a trade, I thought it was because he wanted to reset the market for corners, but then he signed the same deal that Johnson got with the Bears, which is a steal for the Titans.
Sneed will be a big part of the Titans because they hired Brian Callahan as head coach. He will ensure that he surrounds the second-year quarterback with pieces to help him succeed.
When you adjust to a new offense, the best thing to have is a good defense, which the Titans have.
