NFL News: Miami Dolphins Add Veteran Weapon in Odell Beckham Jr. By Grant Winsauer

NFL

According to NFL.com, the Miami Dolphins have signed Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year deal worth up to $8.25 million.

OBJ spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, where he had 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns, according to ESPN.com. He had such few stats because the Ravens are a run-heavy offense with quarterback Lamar Jackson. It also doesn’t help that OBJ is in his mid-30s now and has had many injuries, so his production keeps decreasing.

With him signing with the Dolphins, I think he will see an increase in targets this upcoming season. I don’t know how many yards to expect from him. According to ESPN.com, he is slotted in as the Dolphins' WR3 so that he will fight for targets behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. I believe the Dolphins are an excellent spot for him because he won’t be asked to do much, with the Dolphins having Hill and Waddle combined for almost 3,000 yards in 2023.

The Dolphins and OBJ have had a longstanding connection, and it was only a matter of finding the right deal. Despite the injuries he's faced over his 10-year career, it's clear that OBJ's passion for the game and his desire to continue playing are strong. This signing is a testament to that, and it's something that Dolphins fans can look forward to.

According to ESPN.com, OBJ has played in 110 games and has 566 receptions on 947 targets, totaling 7,932 yards and 59 touchdowns in his 10-year career.

If OBJ can maintain his health and performance, he could potentially extend his NFL career for another two years before considering retirement. This should provide some reassurance to Dolphins fans about his commitment and potential impact on the team.

It will be interesting to see how the Dolphins plan to use Beckham in the passing game this upcoming season, but Dolphins fans should be excited.
