Texans Add Another Weapon to Already Dangerous Offense by Grant Winsauer

On Wednesday, Adam Schefter reported that the Texans were making a blockbuster trade for Stefon Diggs.

According to Adam Schefter, the Bills receive a 2025 second-round pick in exchange for Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

This is an excellent move for the Texans because they have a complete Wide receiver room for second-year Quarterback CJ Stroud. The Texans now have a receiving core comprising Stefon Diggs, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell. Stroud had an incredible rookie campaign without a bonified WR1. According to ESPN.com, during his rookie season, Stroud threw for 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. With Stefon Diggs being added to the mix for this upcoming season, Stroud could get closer to 4,700 passing yards and 32-35 touchdowns.

That said, I don’t think this is a great move for the Bills because now Josh Allen will have NO ONE to throw the ball to.  The Bills have the 28th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. With them not having a solidified No. 1 Receiver, I think they will take one at 28. It also wouldn’t surprise me if they take multiple. With them not having anyone to throw the ball to and them unloading a lot of bad contracts, I don’t think we will see them in the playoffs next year.

Diggs has been in the league since 2015, and this will be his 3rd team during his career. The Vikings drafted him in the 5th round of the 2015 draft. He spent his first five seasons there, and in 2020, he was traded from Minnesota to Buffalo. He then played there for four years before this trade happened. According to ESPN.com, he has 810 receptions in his career on 1177 targets for 9995 yards and 67 touchdowns.

If there is anyone in the Texans’ receiver room that will benefit from the acquisition of Diggs besides Stroud, it is Tank Dell.

Dell had a great rookie year with Stroud throwing him the ball before he suffered a fractured tibia that made him miss the season's final seven games. In the 11 games he played, he caught 47 passes on 75 targets for 709 yards and seven touchdowns, according to ESPN.com. If Dell can stay healthy next year and play an entire season, he will have monster numbers playing across from Diggs.

The Bills are rebuilding because they have either released or traded all their star players on offense and defense. The Bills may be a team that will be hard to watch next season.

If I had to pick who I think won this trade, I would say the Texans. You add a No. 1 receiver to your already stacked Offense, and you only had to give up a second-round pick for it.
