Good Old Censorship: Rob Manfred Strikes Again!By Hank Indictor
I’m not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting to write another article about the A’s so soon after I shamed their “small market ownership” for making more of an effort to screw over his fanbase and satisfy his wallet than to improve his ballpark situation within the city limits.
However, you may have noticed that there was one person whose name I didn't mention in that post, and that would be none other than Good Ol' Rob Manfred. And quite frankly, I think this was a glaring omission on my part. After all, he is a John Fisher enabler, and in fact, Manfred may have had just as big of a hard-on for Vegas as the A’s Ownership group! Want proof? Just look at his fake apology to the city of Oakland.
Oh, but it gets worse because we need to talk about something that happened this past Friday night in a game at the Oakland Mausoleum between the A’s and the Reds.
Trailing 8-3, A’s first baseman Ryan Noda hit a 427-foot, 2-run home run to cut the deficit to 3, and if you watched the home run live on T.V., you’d have noticed a group of fans with banners begging ownership to sell the team in right-center field as the camera panned the flight of the ball. However, if we look at footage on MLB.com the protesting fans get cropped out.
Now, before I hear any excuse about how bad it might look on T.V., let me remind you again who the commissioner is! It’s a man who has proven time and time again that he is tone-deaf, out of touch and doesn’t do nearly enough to help market the game and grow the sport. And by censoring those jilted fans, you're sending a message that when an owner tears down a decent roster, jacks up the prices and threatens to take your team away to a place that will satisfy the wallet, then you're supposed to appease the commissioner who thinks this is good for the game.
Excellent work Manfred, keep alienating more and more fanbases while you're at it!
