NFL News: Former Super Bowl Champion Larry Allen Passes Away Suddenly By Grant Winsauer

According to Adam Schefter, Larry Allen unexpectedly passed away Monday when he was on vacation with his family.

ESPN.com reports that Larry Allen, a second-round pick in the 1994 NFL Draft, left an indelible mark on the game. He dedicated 14 seasons to the Cowboys and 49ers, gracing the field in 203 games. His prowess earned him a spot in 11 Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl championship. Most of his career was spent with the Dallas Cowboys.

Allen won the Super Bowl in 1995 when he was a member of the Cowboys. Allen was responsible for protecting quarterback Troy Aikman and blocking for superstar running back Emmitt Smith. During the 1995 season, Aikman passed for 3,304 yards with 16 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. Emmitt Smith rushed for 1,773 yards with 25 rushing touchdowns, according to profootballreference.com.

Allen was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013. He got in during his first year of eligibility, which is very hard to do. Allen was part of the All-Decade team during the 1990s and the 2000s. I wish I were into football when he was still playing because he was a menace in his blocking abilities.

Allen is survived by his wife, Janelle, and their three children, Loriana, Jayla, and Larry III. Larry III tried to become a football player like his father. Jayla is an actress, and Loriana is a basketball player.

The cause of death for Allen has not been disclosed yet, but hopefully, we will find out soon because he was only 52, and his death was very sudden. I am sure that his old teammates have him in their thoughts and prayers. Cowboys fans will mourn the loss of the great offensive lineman in Allen. There was no offensive lineman like him.
