NFL News: Jamal Adams Agrees to Contract With Tennessee Titans By Grant Winsauer
Ari Meirov reported Thursday that the Tennessee Titans agreed to a contract with “Blitz Boy” Jamal Adams. He will now reunite with his old DB coach, who coached him during his Pro Bowl years.
Adams’s contract is a one-year deal worth $1.125 million. I like this deal because it is a shallow risk, and if it pays off, the contract is very cheap, so it won’t hurt the Titans that much if Adams gets injured or doesn’t play that well.
According to ESPN.com, Adams has played in 80 career games so far and has 494 tackles, 21.5 sacks, and four interceptions in his seven-year career. He played for the New York Jets for three years and then for the Seattle Seahawks for the past four years.
Also, according to ESPN.com, the Jets drafted Adams 6th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, and he made an immediate impact. In his rookie season, he played 16 games and had 83 total tackles, 63 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, and two sacks.
It will be interesting to see if the Titans can help Adams rejuvenate his career because he can still be an excellent safety. The problem with Adams is that he always goes for the hard hits and gets hurt a lot. However, with him joining his old defensive backs coach with the Titans, we may see him return to the earlier part of his career form.
With this only being a one-year deal with the Titans, this is a prove-it deal because he hasn’t played that many games these past few seasons because of his injuries. I am a fan of Adams, and I hope he can perform well with the Titans because I still believe he has a few good years in the NFL.
