NFL News: JaMarcus Russell Fired from Alma Mater for Stealing Donation Check By Grant Winsauer

According to NFL on ESPN on Twitter, JaMarcus Russell was fired from his alma mater for stealing a donation check.

Russell has been a troublemaker since he joined the NFL in 2007, and it seems to follow him even now when he is away from the NFL. I don’t understand why he is stealing the money now or when he was in the NFL and why he was so unmotivated to play in the NFL because he was getting paid $61 million with $32 million guaranteed, according to spotrac.com. Sadly, he is now known as one of the biggest draft busts in NFL history.

I don’t understand why he would steal money from his alma mater when they allowed you to be involved in a sport that didn’t work out well for you. If I ever get a chance to return to my alma mater and give back to my community, I know I will not take that for granted.

According to ESPN.com, Russell played in the NFL for three years, all for the Oakland Raiders. He played in 31 games, completing 354 passes on 680 attempts for 4083 yards with 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. I wonder how good Russell could have been if he had played as well as he did in college because, according to sportsreference.com, he passed for 6,625 yards with 52 touchdowns and only 21 interceptions.

It will be interesting to see what is next for Russell because with all the trouble that he has been involved with, like his contract with the Raiders and now the donation check with his alma mater, will another school give him a chance and let him coach for their team with all of the bad things that have surfaced surrounding him recently?
