Rainbows And Pride ~ NYC Pride Parade 2023 by Jennifer Kate

Happy Pride to everyone! I'm here today to tell the story of my experience at my first-ever Pride event — New York City Pride Parade 2023.

As I came up the stairs from the subway, I was immediately greeted with a large rainbow balloon arch that just so happened to be coming down the street. That was a pretty cool start to Pride.

I must warn you though, if you are going to a Pride parade for the first time, be warned it's very loud and the streets are packed with people everywhere. I loved Pride though; it was like a party if I’m being honest. There were Pride flags everywhere, lots of confetti and bubbles, and loud, fun music. Everyone was having the best time!

I even got to fangirl a little bit when I saw one of my favorite Pride icons, Frankie Grande. Some of you might know him from the reality TV show Big Brother. Some of you may know him simply as Ariana Grande’s big brother.

I happened to find a Pride flag on the floor, so I took that and waved it loud and proudly with the rest of the crowd. It was cool to look around and see everyone with their Pride flags and Pride fans. In a year where there has been a lot of negativity, it was such a great day where everyone can come together and celebrate being exactly who they are and loving themselves and others for who they are.

Let's talk about some of the fun floats and groups that walked in this year's Pride Parade. One of my personal favorites had to be Barbie, who not only walked in this year's parade to promote the new Barbie movie but was on roller skates and did a bunch of dance choreography, which I took multiple videos of because it was too good to pass up. They had the crowd going crazy.

Next had to be the Playbill float. If you guys don’t know Playbill, they cover all the Broadway shows with books to tell you about the cast of the shows. Also, they have a YouTube channel that does behind-the-scenes looks at some of the shows on Broadway. The reason it was one of my favorites was that I’m a fan of Broadway, and one of my favorite Pride icons, who I mentioned earlier, was on that float.

I highly suggest that if you are from New York, or just so happen to be in New York during Pride, I would highly suggest checking out the NYC Pride Parade because it's a very fun and cool experience, and it's a memory I won’t soon forget.

I’m super excited that I got to share my first-ever Pride Parade thoughts and feelings with you guys. Have a great day everyone, and I'll catch you guys in the next one!
