UFC News: Conor McGregor NOT fighting in 2024 according to UFC President Dana White

Following the season premiere of Dana White’s Contender Series, the UFC president sat with the media to answer a few questions. At the press conference, White was asked about the future of former two-weight world champion Conor McGregor, and White stated, “We talked, and he wants to fight…well figure it out, not this year, it won’t be this year”. This massive news got the attention of the fight fans and McGregor. McGregor took to Twitter last night and refuted White's claim, commenting, “Ah Dana December is the date...Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what's this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. December! Tell Dana and UFC we want December! We deserve December!"

The UFC likely does not want to rush McGregor back before he is ready to compete to the best of his abilities. Last week, McGregor was seen highly intoxicated at a BKFC event in Sturgis, South Dakota. McGregor claims he is off to altitude next month to prepare, but the promotion may want to take a more cautious approach. The most alarming factor of this story is the wasted time in the career of Michael Chandler, who now will not have fought in two years. Chandler, now 38, has been inactive since his submission loss to Dustin Poirier. I expect Chandler to continue to wait for McGregor after all this time, but if he chooses to come back, a potential matchup with Paddy Pimblett would also be a box-office attraction.
