Wake Me Up It's Hockey Season Part 2 By: Jennifer Kate
Well, guys, I'm back for part 2 of this hockey blog. It's the best time of year because hockey is back. If you guys still need to read or see the first part of this blog, let me quickly break down how these blogs will work. Each division gets its own blog, so there will be four total. I started with the Western Conference, which we will finish, but we are moving on to the Pacific Division.
This division will be among the most competitive alongside the Metropolitan Division, which we will discuss later. But let me tell you the teams that are in this particular division, and they are as follows: The Calgary Flames, The Edmonton Oilers, The Anaheim Ducks, The Seattle Kraken, The Vancouver Canucks, The Vegas Golden Knights, The San Jose Sharks, and last but not least The Los Angeles Kings.
Let's start with The Calgary Flames once again. As I said in the part before this, the Canadian teams have been very disappointing, and I wonder if they are making playoffs, i doubt it. But as I did in the last blog, I'm going to be telling you some of the big names on the team, and they are as follows: Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, Jacob Markström.
Let's move on to The Edmonton Oilers, yet another Canadian team but less disappointing than the rest of these teams. I can see them going far. If they can get it together this year and work together, I can see the Oilers being a considerable threat this season. We all know a few of this team's big names, but let me tell you about them anyway. These big names are Connor McDavid, Evander Kane, and, last but not least, Ryan Nugent Hopkins.
Moving onto The Anaheim Ducks, also known as the landing spot for multiple former New York Rangers (but I digress). I think the Ducks have a long way to go before they even get close to a cup, but overall, they are a super fun team to watch. Let me tell you a few big names that some of you may recognize. The big names are as follows: Trevor Zegras (well, maybe he won't be back. He still doesn't have a new contract, but once again, i digress), Adam Henrique, and former New York Ranger Ryan Strome.
Moving on to one of my favorite teams in this division, The Seattle Kraken. The Kraken were a super fun team to watch this past season. They will be just as fun to watch again this upcoming season. They make it into playoffs. A little hot take coming up here: They make it to the final round of playoffs and lose in game 6 or 7. As much as I would love to see them win, they get slightly edged out by a better team. But let me get to some of the big names on this team because I can go on and on about this team. The big names are Jordan Eberle, Brandon Tanev, and, last but not least, the newest upcoming star, Matty Beniers.
Ok, onto The Vancouver Canucks, one of my least favorite teams in this division. They are just another disappointing Canadian team. They won't even make the playoffs this year. They have good talent. Some teams are going to be a heck of a lot better. Now let me get to a few big names on this team, and they are as follows: Quinn Hughes, Ian Cole, and former New York Ranger J.T. Miller.
Alright, onward with the blog to another of my favorite teams in this division: The Vegas Golden Knights. They have been good since they came into the league in 2017. Last year, they went to the playoffs, and I'm sure they can do it again this year, no doubt in my mind. But once again, let me give you another hot take. Vegas will win the Stanley Cup this year (Again). Let me not get too carried away and get to the big names on this team, which, if I'm being honest, there are quite a few, but as I have done for every other team, I will only give three. The big names are Jonathan Marchessault, Jack Eichel, and Mark Stone.
Onto the next team, the San Jose Sharks, coached by former New York Rangers Head Coach David Quinn. The Sharks are another team that is going nowhere this season. They are a young team with talent but are still in the rebuild phase, and no one expects much from them this season. Let me get to the big names of this team since there are few on this team. The big names are Former New York Ranger Anthony Duclair, Tomáš Hertl, and Filip Zadina.
And last but not least, The Los Angeles Kings. This is another team I am on the fence about because they are good, but again, other teams are just a heck of a lot better than they are. They won't make the playoffs. Let's get to the big names on this team, and they are as follows: Anže Kopitar, Former New York Ranger Cam Talbot, and my favorite player on this team, Drew Doughty.
Well, that wraps it up for part 2 of this hockey blog. I'm excited about the following two parts that are coming soon. Thank you so much for reading this blog. I hope you enjoyed it and I will catch you in the next one.
