Hank’s Picks Week 1 By: Hank Indictor
How’s it going friends? We are back for an all new NFL Season! And for those of you who have followed me on Facebook for many years I am back with my picks! However, I have decided to move them to blog form. And while I will be contributing to Football Friday segments fair warning these picks are about who will win so you won’t see any gambling spreads here and so some may look different. Anyways let’s get right into the meat and potatoes, here are my Week 1 picks!!
Thursday
Lions vs Chiefs (The defending Super Bowl Champions are about to take on a Lions team that appears to be on the rise. I personally have my skepticism about Detroit but personally I hope to see them improve. However with that said, regardless of the status of Travis Kelce. There’s no way I can pick against the Chiefs here. Patrick Mahomes is a man on a mission and this is just the start of their journey to become the next NFL dynasty. Gimme the Chiefs!
Sunday
Texans vs Ravens (I’ve always been on record saying that Lamar Jackson is overrated. And I’m not sold on Baltimore as a whole at all. That said Houston is in a rebuild mode. Maybe C.J. Stroud exorcises the Watson demons but not today. Gimme the Ravens)
Bengals vs Browns (It looks to me like Joe Burrow is going to be healthy enough to start this one. And that’s key because this could be a make or break season for the Bengals to finally hoist that Lombardi Trophy! As for the Browns. Given the deal with a Devil they made this is just as much if not more of a make or break situation. Still regardless of Burrows health I don’t trust the Browns gimme Cincy!!)
Buccaneers vs Vikings (How will the Bucs survive in the post TB12 era? To me Baker is pretty much a band aid in the sense of replacing a legend, a Hello Kitty Band-Aid. As for the Vikings. Feels like I have them winning by default. Gimme Minnesota!)
Titans vs Saints (The good news for the Saints is that they got….A NEW CARR!! The bad news is due to their screwing up of the cap over the years the insurance is spotty. That said I think the Titans are a very mediocre team. Gimme New Orleans!)
Panthers vs Falcons (First upset special of the season! The Falcons seem to be the consensus NFC South winner by default. However I think the division is very much wide open and the Panthers are a team on the rise. And I’m very confident that Bryce Young will be their franchise QB. Gimme Carolina!)
Jaguars vs Colts (This is a year that I can see Trevor Lawrence taking the next step forward for the Jags! As for the Colts?it’s gonna take years to undo the mess that Jim Irsay made. Gimme Jacksonville!)
49ers vs Steelers (Another upset special? Yup! True the Niners are a team with Super Bowl aspirations but with all the drama. I think it reeks of disappointment. And if Nick Bosa continues to hold out they’re screwed. Not to mention Pittsburgh is a really good home team. I think they’re on the rise. Gimme the Steelers!)
Cardinals vs Commanders (Washington may be mid but as for Arizona, regardless of which QB starts this week they certainly won’t be taking the boat! Then again Washington already got their first win. Dan Snyder is gone! Still gimme the Commies!)
Raiders vs Broncos (Can’t say I’m too bullish on the Raiduhz with Jimmy G now I’m the starting QB. As for Broncos country. Not sure about them but at least they find some form of redemption this week. Broncos Country Let’s Ride?)
Dolphins vs Chargers (This might sound risky but if all goes well I truly believe Tua will thrive this year. Here’s hoping he can stay healthy. As for the Chargers this will be a game where keeping the coach comes back to haunt them. Gimme Miami!)
Eagles vs Patriots (No contest. The Eagles will start their revenge tour against the fallen empire, and they are simply too stacked. Gimme Philly!)
Packers vs Bears (Is Chicago trending in the right direction? Yes. Are they a contender yet? No. That said I don’t know what to make of the Packers this year. Therefore I go with…DA BEARS!!!!)
Rams vs Seahawks (Oh how far the Rams have fallen. True this is a team that won a Super Bowl a couple years ago. But it feels like with all those picks they gave up it was the result of a deal with the devil! As for Seattle, I can see them building off last year. But was Geno with the contract? Gimme the Hawks!)
Cowboys vs Giants (Another year where we get hyped up by the Cowboys. I’m supposed just because of who they are they’re gonna be a big deal? Excuse me while I roll my eyes. As for the Giants, they’re taking a step in the right direction for the first time in a long time. And I think them not getting as much spotlight will work to their advantage. I think with a better O-Line, receiving core and an improved defense the G-Men will continue to assert themselves. And guess what? That starts with Week 1 in front of a loud sold out MetLife crowd. Let’s Go Big Blue!!!!!! Gimme the G-Men!!)
Monday
Bills vs Jets (Talk about teams that are getting hyped up. Bills are looking to rebound after a disappointing playoff letdown from a year ago while the Jets made a splash in banking on Aaron Rodgers? The Jets may be an improved team but you know the deal with hyping them up. Gimme the Bills!)
