NFL News: Bears “Hard Knocks” Episode One Reaction By Grant Winsauer
The Chicago Bears “Hard Knocks” episode one became available on Max Tuesday night and did not disappoint.
I can speak for all Bears fans. When it was announced that the Bears would be featured on the show, we were all extremely excited to see what they had in store for us, and the first episode was a home run.
The episode started with Caleb Williams's draft night phone call, which seems fitting. We also got to see the draftees do an average rookie singing competition. They all announced their signing bonuses, with Williams getting the most significant reaction, with his signing bonus being $25.5 million.
We saw Matt Eberflus and Nick Saban talk about quarterback Caleb Williams. Saban gave Eberflus some good advice, always standing behind him in practice and not criticizing him in front of the team. He also said don’t tell him what he is doing wrong; show him. I have to say that is excellent advice, and I’d be shocked if Eberflus doesn’t use it because Saban coached Eberflus at Toledo in college.
A few things surprised me in the first episode, though. One of those things I at least didn’t expect to be in the first episode was D.J. Moore signing his $110 million extension. I expected it to be included during one documentary episode but not the first one. I did not expect actual footage from the Hall of Fame game to be included in the episode.
Since the first episode focused on the offensive side of the ball, I expect next week's episode to include more on the defense side. My expectations are high because the first episode was a perfect start to the series.
