NFL News: Jabrill Peppers Gets Extension From Patriots By Grant Winsauer

NFL

According to Ari Meirov, the New England Patriots have extended another one of their own. The contract is a three-year extension worth $24 million with an upside of $30 million. The Patriots' motive this offseason seems to be to retain as much talent as they already have and wait until next offseason to get more weapons for the offense.

I have to say I think the contract he got from the Patriots is very reasonable. It won’t be a huge cap hit for the Patriots, so hopefully, they will have enough money to help Drake Maye next season.

I see this as a good and bad thing. The good thing is that they won’t have to rely on Jacoby Brissett or rookie Drake Maye to win many games. The bad thing is that the Patriots don’t have many trustworthy weapons for the offense.

According to ESPN.com, Peppers has played for three teams: the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, and the New England Patriots. It looks like he found his home in New England. During his career, Peppers has played in 93 games, scoring 470 total tackles, five and a half sacks, and six interceptions.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Peppers in the first round of the 2017 draft. I wonder why he only played two seasons there, even though he had good seasons there.

Either way, the Patriots should give Peppers a nice payday and keep him around for the foreseeable future. He should be a pivotal piece of their defense and a significant contributor to the new-look Patriots.

Patriots fans should be happy they locked up a fan favorite for a cheap contract. I can’t wait to see how this upcoming season goes for him.
