NFL News: No Starters Playing in Bears vs. Texans Hall of Fame Game By Grant Winsauer
Patrick Finley reported Wednesday that none of the Bears' starters will play in tonight’s Hall of Fame game against the Texans.
I understand why none of the starters are playing because this game means nothing; it is just the year's kickoff game. I can’t say that I’m not disappointed, though, because the Bears just drafted Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze, and I think I can speak for all Bears fans. We hoped to see him for a drive or two during the Hall of Fame game.
I am still excited to see the backups play because this is their chance to rise on the depth chart and get more playing time. For example, I’m excited to watch Tyson Bagent get the start for the Hall of Fame game because he had a few games where he played in place of an injured Justin Fields, and he led us to a few wins. I am also very excited to see Tyler Scott, who has had an impressive training camp and comes in as WR4 behind DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze.
People may not be too excited about the Hall of Fame game because no starters are playing, but here is a little fun fact about the Bears and the Hall of Fame game: The last time that they were in the Hall of Fame game, they went to the playoffs in 2018. As a Bears fan, I hope history repeats itself, and the Bears make the playoffs again this year because we have the team to make it to the playoffs.
Football fans should be excited because when the Hall of Fame game comes around, it means one thing: that FOOTBALL GAMES ARE BACK.
